Dan Denton has over 25 years experience as a trial attorney and practices in the areas of personal injury, worker’s compensation and general business litigation.
In his Accident and Personal Injury practice, Mr. Denton has litigated a wide variety of cases including matters involving Products Liability, Car Accident / Motor Vehicles, Slip & Falls, Workers Comp, Wrongful Death, Medical Negligence and §1983 civil rights violations.
During his years of trial practice, Mr. Denton has also handled numerous business disputes, for plaintiffs and defendants, including those involving commercial and residential real property, contracts and leases, franchise disputes, fraud, actions to pierce the corporate veil, insurance coverage, contractor and owner disputes, and more.
Mr. Denton has litigated cases under under the South Carolina Tort Claims Act and the Federal Tort Claim Claims Act. He has handled appeals to the South Carolina Supreme Court, South Carolina Court of Appeals, and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.
As a certified mediator in Civil Court Mediation, Mr. Denton is committed to the philosophy that, in most cases, mediation is the preferable means of resolving disputes as opposed to expensive, protracted and sometimes emotional litigation. In 1996, while maintaining his private law practice, Mr. Denton was a co-founder of HTTP Development, Inc., d/b/a Realty.com, a start-up Internet company based in Columbia, SC, and from 1997-2000 he was chairman and general counsel. His responsibilities included strategic planning, oversight of corporate and legal matters, and contract review and negotiations involving business alliances and intellectual property rights. Mr. Denton continues to serve as President of the company while his son, Andy, handles daily operations as VP and COO.
Mr. Denton lives in Beaufort, SC, with his wife, Cassy, a successful Realtor. They have four sons.
